On February 28 2009 Karen Hobson was awarded the "Emerging Leader" award by the For You Network/NAFE at their 7th annual Gotta Have Heart event. The event is held each year to honor all the members of the 19 For You Network Connections in Southern California. Karen Hobson is having incredible days sharing what she's learned about writing and publishing as the director of the Start 2 Finish Writers Workshops. WOW! Sharing the journey of writing a book, or blog with budding authors, or accomplished writers is a wonderful, exciting experience. The workshops start by opening a writers creative pathways, giving authors the tools to map a book in thirty minutes or less, demonstrating techniques to add pizzazz to their writing, educating writers about the world of publishing and last the cricital element, how an author profits from their books or blogs. I jump out of bed each day excited to see what the world has to offer. I've learned that networking, involing myself in all the possibilities is a thrilling way to expand your horizons. Life is all about Showing UP...and I do... as often and as much as I can. The author of the book series It's Funny From A Distance. A specialist in non fiction genre. My books are "new autobiography" considered memoir as literature or literary non fiction. Currently I'm working on the second in my book series, It's Funny From A Distance. Book one is due out late spring of 2009. Book two It's Funny From A Distance, Travel Miss-adventures is planned for fall of 2009. Book three It's Funny From A Distance, Who Pooped on my Career Path? Early in 2010. Watch for them, early reviews have been fabulous. Many have suggested I am the Erma Bombeck of my generation. Until seven years ago I ran a successful consulting business for Fortune 500 apparel companies guiding them in trend direction. I traveled the globe in search of the next new "ITEM" and forecasting color, style, and fabric direction. I was a foremost expert in Brand Development for apparel companies. My life was changed by family tragedy six years ago. I took on the role of caregiver for my father and father-in-law. To keep my sanity I started to write, 80,000 words later, manuscript in hand, off I went to writers conferences and workshops... I am an award winning poet. I've written a full length screenplay and my proudest accomplishment my book series It's Funny From A Distance, hits book stores spring of 2009 With the death of my father and my father-in-law in the spring of 2008. At a loss of what to do next...I started my company, Start 2 Finish Writers Workshop. I'm having the best time ever! I am a certified seminar leader with the American Seminar Leaders Association. I've spent several years with Toastmasters, as Club President, Area Governor, Club Mentor and winning many awards for my speeches. I have received my Advanced Competent Speaker and Leader awards. My articles have appeared in the Apparel News, Toastmasters , Craft News and local papers. I write a monthly newsletter for the Murrieta For You Network Connection and contribute to The Ambassador the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce quarterly newsletter. After a speaking engagement Infinity Arts, a website design company suggested I join them in developing a progran using our combined strengths. Thus came about Blogging Your Way to $$$. A seminar devoted to sharing the Blogoshpere and its earning opportunity with individuals. WOW! It's fun, exciting and educational. In this tuff ecomonic climate it offers individuals a method to generate income. Best of all it's FREE. My volunteer involement revolves around a committment to service. I Stepped Up to change my community, my country and the world. I Stepped Out of my box and joined with others to serve.
